NFL VPN 2026-27: what changed this season
If you are a US viewer at home, you do not need a VPN for the NFL. If you live in Europe, you probably do not need one either: the NFL Game Pass is sold by DAZN, local broadcasters hold the rest, and several free-to-air options exist. The 2026-27 season opened on 9 September 2026 and Super Bowl LXI is on 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, on ESPN/ABC in the US. This guide was updated on 19 October 2026, in the middle of week 6.
Many older guides are now wrong: the Super Bowl is no longer on NBC, Germany’s rights moved from DAZN to RTL and Sky, and the Sunday Ticket workarounds that circulate online are not supported by the services. A VPN is still useful in two honest cases: reaching your own legal subscription while travelling, and protecting your connection. It does not guarantee access to any streaming service.
Outside the US, the full-season option is NFL Game Pass on DAZN (RedZone included). In France it costs 219.99 euros for Season Pro; free options exist in several countries.
- Super Bowl LXI is on 14 February 2027 (SoFi Stadium, ESPN/ABC in the US). Free-to-air in France on La Chaîne L'Équipe.
- Sunday Ticket ($240 to $480) is US-only and YouTube says its TV service does not stream while a VPN is on. DAZN says it blocks VPNs too.
- A VPN helps you reach your own subscription abroad and secure public Wi-Fi. Best pick: NordVPN, with no access guarantee.
Before you read on. Streaming services generally restrict access to the country of your subscription. Using a VPN to get around a geographic restriction can breach their terms of service and lead to account suspension, even though it is not illegal in itself. No service is guaranteed to work with a VPN: platforms regularly block VPN addresses. We do not link to pirate streaming sites and do not recommend them.
Who shows the NFL in 2026-27, country by country?
Checked on 19 October 2026 against broadcaster pages and the specialist press. Rights can change mid-season, so confirm on the service’s own page before paying.

USA: a patchwork of broadcasters
- Sunday afternoon: CBS (Paramount+) and FOX (Fox One app). YouTube’s NFL Sunday Ticket adds out-of-market games.
- Sunday Night Football: NBC and Peacock. Monday Night Football: ESPN and ABC. Thursday Night Football and Black Friday: Prime Video.
- Netflix: the Melbourne game of 10 September, the Thanksgiving Eve game (25 November), two Christmas Day games and a Saturday game in week 18 (9 January 2027).
- Thanksgiving, 26 November 2026: Bears-Lions on CBS, Eagles-Cowboys on FOX, Bills-Chiefs on NBC.
- Super Bowl LXI: ESPN and ABC.
UK and Ireland: Sky Sports, Channel 5, DAZN
According to NFL.com’s 2026 guide and the Sat & TV Guy rundown of 7 September 2026: Sky Sports shows more than half of all games (Sunday double-headers, primetime, RedZone, playoffs). Channel 5 shows free-to-air games on Sundays (two according to these guides; the split between Channel 5 and 5Action is not confirmed, so check the listings). Virgin Media covers Ireland free-to-air (at least 22 games, deal through 2028). NFL Game Pass on DAZN is the full option, but Sky’s two exclusive games each week are blacked out on it. The earlier claim that BBC iPlayer carries free games is not confirmed, so we removed it.
France: DAZN, beIN SPORTS, L’Équipe and France Télévisions
- NFL Game Pass on DAZN: every preseason, regular-season and playoff game, the Super Bowl, NFL RedZone and NFL Network. DAZN says every 2026 game has French commentary, a first for the market. It is also sold through Prime Video Channels with a single simultaneous stream (Sport Buzz Business, 26 August 2026).
- beIN SPORTS: rights renewed on 21 July 2026. Thursday, Sunday and Monday night football, two featured games every Sunday (7 pm and 10:25 pm), a Sunday RedZone multiplex from 7 pm, the playoffs, Super Bowl LXI and the Paris Game. From 15 euros/month via beIN SPORTS CONNECT on CANAL+, or CANAL+ SPORT from 29.99 euros/month.
- La Chaîne L’Équipe (free, digital terrestrial): one game every Sunday at 10 pm, three playoff games, the Madrid (8 November) and Munich (15 November) games, and Super Bowl LXI.
- France Télévisions (free): the NFL Paris Game on 25 October 2026 and the three London games on 4, 11 and 18 October 2026.
We could not confirm any NFL broadcast on Netflix or Prime Video France this season. The US Christmas games on Netflix are US offers. The exact length of the French contracts was not verified.
Germany: RTL and Sky, DAZN only for Game Pass
Major change: according to a guide dated 1 October 2026, the NFL ended its German-language deal with DAZN early. RTL (selected Sunday games at 7 pm and 10 pm, Night Games, European games, the opener) and Sky (extra games, the conference, RedZone) share the rights for Germany, Austria and Switzerland until 2028-29. DAZN keeps only Game Pass (RTL press release of 13 August 2026 and DAZN Germany page). The old line that ProSieben shows the Super Bowl free-to-air is outdated.
Canada
Guides mention TSN, CTV, RDS and DAZN, but we could not verify these rights on an official source for 2026-27, so we state nothing. The Mexico, Japan and Brazil entries of the previous version were removed for the same reason.
What is the 2026-27 NFL calendar?
The regular season runs 18 weeks, from 9 September 2026 to week 18 around 9-10 January 2027. We are in week 6 (Monday Night Football tonight, 19 October).
- 9 September 2026: opener, Seahawks-Patriots (a Super Bowl LX rematch) on NBC and Peacock.
- 10 September: Rams-49ers in Melbourne (first official game in Australia), on Netflix in the US, at 2:35 am on 11 September in France.
- 27 September: Ravens-Cowboys in Rio de Janeiro (Maracanã).
- 4, 11 and 18 October: three games in London (Tottenham twice, Wembley once). They have been played.
- 25 October: Steelers-Saints at the Stade de France, 2:30 pm Paris time, the first regular-season game in France.
- 8 November: Bengals-Falcons in Madrid (Bernabéu), 3:30 pm. 15 November: Patriots-Lions in Munich, 3:30 pm.
- 22 November: Vikings-49ers in Mexico City, 8:20 pm ET.
- 25 November: Packers-Rams on Netflix. 26 November: Thanksgiving. 27 November: Black Friday on Prime Video.
- 25 December: Packers-Bears and Bills-Broncos on Netflix, Rams-Seahawks on FOX.
- 9 January 2027: week 18 Saturday game on Netflix.
- Playoffs: Wild Card from 16 January 2027, Divisional round on 23-24 January, conference championships on 31 January according to calendars published before the season.
- 14 February 2027: Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium.

In the UK and Germany
Game Pass UK, Sky Sports and German Game Pass prices are not reliable: the figures we found contradict each other (for example 99.99 or 199.99 euros for the Pro plan in Germany). We publish no number. Prices differ by country, but paying another country’s price through a VPN breaches the terms and DAZN says it blocks VPNs, so we do not recommend it.
Can you watch NFL RedZone outside the US?
Yes, through the local rights holder, without a VPN. RedZone, the show that jumps between Sunday games, is included in NFL Game Pass on DAZN (Season Pro and Ultimate). Sky Sports shows it in the UK and beIN SPORTS offers a Sunday multiplex from 7 pm in France. In the US, RedZone comes with NFL+ Premium ($100 a year) and as a Sunday Ticket add-on.
The old “RedZone hack” in this article relied on a 7-day YouTube TV trial behind a US VPN. We removed it: it is not verified for 2026, it assumes a US subscription, and Google says YouTube TV does not stream while a VPN is active.
Sunday Ticket with a VPN: what is true in 2026
Since 2023, NFL Sunday Ticket has been sold by YouTube (YouTube TV or Primetime Channels) and covers Sunday afternoon games outside your local market. It stays US-only. It does not include Thursday Night Football, some Thanksgiving games, the preseason or the playoffs, and your local CBS or FOX games come through local channels (9to5Google, 10 September 2026).
What the publisher says: Google states that YouTube TV will not stream while a VPN or proxy is connected, and the service checks a “home area”. We therefore dropped the old step-by-step (fake US address, virtual phone number, US card): it breaches the service’s terms, risks account suspension, and nothing shows it works this season.
The legitimate case: you are a US YouTube TV subscriber travelling in Europe. The service limits access outside the US. The service says it does not work with an active VPN, so a VPN does not solve the problem and is not permitted by the service. If you are travelling inside the European Union with a European subscription, first check your subscription’s portability in the app, which often works without a VPN.
Where can you watch Super Bowl LXI on 14 February 2027?
Date: Sunday 14 February 2027. Venue: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood (Los Angeles). Kick-off: not yet official; the usual slot is 6:30 pm ET, which is 12:30 am the night of Sunday to Monday in France. Time to be confirmed by the NFL.
- USA: ESPN and ABC (ABC is over the air, so free with an antenna). The Super Bowl is not on NBC this year.
- France: La Chaîne L’Équipe free-to-air, beIN SPORTS and DAZN Game Pass.
- UK: Sky Sports (NFL.com). Channel 5 also shows Super Bowl LXI free-to-air (the channel’s press release of 2 September 2026).
- Ireland: Virgin Media (NFL.com).
- Germany: RTL free-to-air and Sky on pay TV according to a guide of 1 October 2026; RTL also showed Super Bowl LX. The RTL release we checked does not yet say so for LXI.
- Canada: guides list TSN, CTV and RDS, not verified.
From France the simplest and safest route is L’Équipe free-to-air: no VPN, no subscription. A VPN only makes sense if you are abroad and want your usual service back.
4 NFL scenarios for 2026-27
Scenario 1: US fan at home
Use the local offers: NBC/Peacock, ESPN, Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube TV and Sunday Ticket. No VPN, except for privacy on a public network.
Scenario 2: fan outside the US who wants everything
NFL Game Pass on DAZN (Season Pro, RedZone included), or the local pay-TV rights holder such as Sky Sports in the UK or beIN SPORTS in France. No VPN needed where the service is sold.
Scenario 3: you are travelling
Check your subscription’s portability first. If access is blocked, contact the broadcaster’s customer service first: a VPN is neither guaranteed nor necessarily allowed by its terms.
Scenario 4: casual fan on a budget
Free-to-air options: Channel 5 in the UK, La Chaîne L’Équipe and France Télévisions in France, RTL in Germany, local over-the-air games in the US. Cost: nothing, no VPN.

VPN on a TV: what to know
Most streaming services are used on a connected TV. There are two approaches: a VPN app on a compatible box, or the Smart DNS offered by some providers (NordVPN, ExpressVPN with MediaStreamer). Smart DNS does not encrypt your traffic and does not guarantee access. The speed you need for high-definition streaming depends on your connection and the service, so test during the refund window before committing.

- Search for “free NFL live stream” on pirate sites: malware, fraudulent ads and legal risk. We do not link to such sites.
- Use a free VPN for a streaming service: the IP addresses are very often blocked, and your data may be collected.
- Pay for Game Pass, a local pay-TV package and a VPN at once: pick one main offer for your needs.
- Follow a fake US address recipe to subscribe to Sunday Ticket: it breaches the service’s terms and is not guaranteed.
- Buy with a VPN to get another country’s price: the terms generally forbid it and DAZN says it detects VPNs.
Verdict: how to watch the NFL in 2026-27
