Proton Black Friday 2026: what is announced and what is not
Proton told its partners on October 15, 2026 that the Swiss company’s 2026 Black Friday will run from Monday, October 26 to Monday, November 30, with discounts on five products. This guide does two things. It tells you what is confirmed, with the source and the date. Then it helps you pick the right plan for your need and compare it fairly with the NordVPN and NordPass offers, which are already open.
The rule on this page: a number appears only if it comes from an official communication or a vendor page, with its date. Proton has published no euro price so far. Rather than guess, we write “price not published” and we will read it when the offer opens on October 26. The reference points we give are dated and presented as reference points, never as the offer itself.
Short answer: 75% off Proton VPN Plus (24-month plans), 60% off Mail Plus, Drive Plus and Pass Plus (12-month plans) and 50% off Proton Unlimited (12-month plan), from October 26 to November 30, 2026. If you only want a VPN, wait for October 26 and compare with NordVPN, whose offer is already live. If you want the mailbox, the storage or the password manager, the 60% discount is the real story, and Unlimited only pays off if you use several products.
Proton offers from October 26 to November 30, 2026, announced on October 15, 2026. Euro prices not published as of October 23, 2026.
- VPN Plus: 75% off on 24-month plans. Mail Plus, Drive Plus, Pass Plus: 60% off on 12 months. Unlimited: 50% off on 12 months.
- Nothing to buy before October 26 if you can wait: the announced offer beats the discounts shown today.
- NordVPN and NordPass are already on sale (since October 21, until December 9): their price is known, Proton's is not yet.
The calendar: Proton, NordVPN and NordPass side by side
The offers do not all open on the same day, and that is the first thing to know when choosing when to buy. Here is the real calendar as of October 23, 2026, Paris time. The NordVPN and NordPass dates come from their partner programs’ communications of October 21, 2026, Proton’s from the email of October 15, 2026.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| October 21 to November 23 | NordVPN: Black Friday phase, up to 78% off with 3 months free on 2 years, from 3.49 euros a month |
| October 21 to December 9 | NordPass: Individual 2 years at 53% off with 3 months free, from 1.39 euros a month |
| Monday, October 26 | Proton offers open (VPN, Mail, Drive, Pass, Unlimited) |
| November 24 to December 1 | NordVPN: exclusive week, Basic 2-year plan at 2.99 euros a month announced |
| Friday, November 27 | Black Friday |
| Monday, November 30 | Cyber Monday and last day of the Proton offers |
| December 2 to 9 | NordVPN: Cyber Monday phase, offer ends December 9 |
One practical consequence: Proton’s is the shortest campaign of the season (36 days, October 26 to November 30) and it ends before NordVPN’s. If you hesitate between the two, you will not get the same thinking time. Our general guide VPN Black Friday 2026 follows NordVPN’s three phases and the other brands, and the Cyber Monday 2026 guide covers the end of the campaign.
The five Proton offers, product by product
According to the official “Proton Affiliate Team” email of October 15, 2026, here is what Proton announces. The email says the offers are available through Proton’s partner links.
| Product | Announced discount | Plan concerned |
|---|---|---|
| Proton VPN Plus | 75% off | 24-month plans |
| Proton Mail Plus | 60% off | 12-month plan |
| Proton Drive Plus | 60% off | 12-month plan |
| Proton Pass Plus | 60% off | 12-month plan |
| Proton Unlimited | 50% off | 12-month plan |
Read this table with three caveats, which we apply to ourselves.
- The percentage has a base Proton does not give. A “75% off” can be computed on the highest starting monthly price or on the already discounted price on the page. The amount billed depends on that choice. When prices are live, we will write the amount, not just the percentage.
- The length is not the same everywhere. The VPN is discounted on 24 months, the other products on 12 months. A 24-month commitment is longer, and you need to be sure you will use the service to the end.
- Renewal is not specified. The communication does not say what price the plans renew at. We will look for it at launch.
What is each product for?
So the discounts make sense, here is what each plan contains, according to Proton’s pages read on October 23, 2026.
- Proton VPN Plus: a Swiss VPN, whose apps are published as open source according to Proton, protecting 10 devices at once, with servers in more than 140 countries according to its pricing page. The free plan exists, on 1 device, with servers in 10 randomly chosen countries.
- Proton Mail Plus: an encrypted mailbox, with more storage than the free plan. Proton’s page showed Mail Plus with 15 GB.
- Proton Drive Plus: encrypted storage. Proton’s page showed Drive Plus with 200 GB, against 5 GB for free.
- Proton Pass Plus: a password manager with more features than the free plan (built-in authenticator, unlimited email aliases, dark web monitoring, file attachments, according to Proton’s page).
- Proton Unlimited: one subscription bundling VPN, Pass, Mail, Calendar and Drive. Its page shows 500 GB of storage, 15 email addresses and 50 Pass vaults.
The links to the offer on this page are partner links: we earn a commission if you buy, with no effect on your price. We have a partner link for Proton VPN and one for Proton Pass. For Mail, Drive and Unlimited we have no dedicated one: not making one up is the only honest course, and we say so rather than send you to a link that is not the offer’s.
And the prices? What we know and what we are waiting for
On October 23, 2026, Proton had communicated no price for its Black Friday. So here is what we can say, without extrapolating.
Reference before the offer. On Proton VPN’s pricing page seen from a US address on October 18, 2026 (screenshot above), VPN Plus showed at $3.49 a month on 2 years, with $9.99 crossed out (65% off), and Proton Unlimited at $7.99 a month ($12.99 crossed out, 38% off). These are dollars, seen from the United States: we will read the euro amounts from Europe at launch. In our Proton VPN review, the pricing sheet lists VPN Plus at 4.49 euros a month on 2 years, 5.99 euros on 1 year and 9.99 euros monthly: those are our sheet’s figures, which we could not re-check today on the euro page.
Other products. According to the Proton Pass page read on October 23, 2026, Pass Plus showed at $2.99 a month on annual billing ($4.99 crossed out), and Unlimited at $9.99 a month ($12.99 crossed out). Our NordPass review had read the same amounts in euros on October 18, 2026 for Pass Plus (2.99 euros a month) and Unlimited (9.99 euros a month). The Mail page showed Mail Plus at $3.99 a month on annual billing, and the Drive page showed Drive Plus at $4.99 a month on monthly billing. These are starting prices, before any Black Friday discount.
Our calculation, to be read as an example. If the “75% off” applied to the crossed-out 9.99 of the October 18 page, VPN Plus would drop to about 2.50 a month. This is an arithmetic illustration, not a price published by Proton: if the base is different, the result changes. That is why we are waiting for the real prices.
What we will do on October 26. Read, on the offer page from a European address, the euro price of each plan, the total amount billed, the renewal price if shown and the guarantee. The figures will be added here with their date.
What Proton did on Black Friday 2025
The past is not a promise, but it helps set expectations. According to the archive of Proton’s Black Friday page of November 28, 2025, the sale went up to 70% off. The press reported, for Proton VPN Plus, a 2-year plan at 2.49 euros a month (75% off), or 180 euros saved against the starting price according to Phonandroid, Clubic and Futura Sciences (November 27, 2025).
The two figures do not contradict each other: one is the ceiling Proton announced across its products, the other a specific plan price read by the press. For 2026, Proton already announces the highest level (75% off) on its VPN, with five detailed discounts instead of a ceiling. Nothing says the euro prices will match 2025’s, and we do not present them as this year’s offer.
Which Proton plan to pick for your need
A 75% discount on a product you do not need is still a waste. Here is how to choose, product by product.
You only want a VPN: Proton VPN Plus
- Take Plus if you want to protect several devices, pick your server from a wide choice of countries and access streaming. The free plan protects a single device, with servers in 10 randomly chosen countries.
- Start with the free plan if you are not sure you need one: it has no time limit. Our guide Proton VPN free details its limits.
- Mind the commitment: the 75% discount targets 24-month plans. Two years paid upfront is comfortable for daily use, risky for a one-off need (a trip, a sports season). The 30-day guarantee is your safety net.
- Compare before paying: NordVPN already has a known price. See the dedicated section below.
You want an encrypted mailbox: Proton Mail Plus
Mail Plus is the most useful product if you want to leave an ad-driven mailbox, use your own domain name or simply get more storage. The 60% discount applies to a 12-month plan: the commitment is short, so the risk is low. If your current mailbox is enough, Proton’s free plan lets you try the interface before paying.
You want storage: Proton Drive Plus
Drive Plus (200 GB on the October 23, 2026 page) makes sense if you want encrypted storage for sensitive documents. If you need much more, look at Unlimited (500 GB), which adds the rest of the ecosystem. Work out the price per gigabyte with the real prices of October 26, not with the percentages.
You want a password manager: Proton Pass Plus
Proton Pass’s free plan has no device limit and offers unlimited logins, according to Proton’s page. Pass Plus adds notably the built-in authenticator, unlimited email aliases, dark web monitoring and file attachments. If you are already happy with the free plan, Plus only matters if one of those features is missing. We compare with NordPass below.
You want everything: Proton Unlimited
Unlimited bundles VPN, Mail, Drive, Pass and Calendar. Its discount (50% off 12 months) is smaller in percentage than the VPN’s, but it applies to a bigger basket. The rule is simple: add up what you would pay for each product separately at the real October 26 prices, and compare with Unlimited. If you would only use two products, taking them separately is often cheaper, especially if one is discounted 75% on 24 months. If you would use three or more, Unlimited usually wins.
Proton VPN vs NordVPN on Black Friday: the honest comparison
Both brands are in our ranking: NordVPN is rated 9.6 out of 10, Proton VPN 9.2 out of 10 in our sheets. This Black Friday’s question is mostly one of calendar and priorities.
| NordVPN | Proton VPN | |
|---|---|---|
| Black Friday offer | Up to 78% off + 3 months free, on 2 years | 75% off VPN Plus, 24-month plans |
| Dates | October 21 to November 23, then exclusive week and Cyber Monday until December 9 | October 26 to November 30 |
| Announced monthly price | From 3.49 euros (2 years, 3 months free); 2.99 euros announced November 24 to December 1 (Basic 2 years) | Not published as of October 23 |
| Free plan | No | Yes, no time limit (1 device) |
| Jurisdiction | Panama | Switzerland |
| Open code | Apps partly | Apps published according to Proton |
| Guarantee | 30 days | 30 days |
| Strength in our tests | Speed, streaming | Privacy, ecosystem |
What the table really says. Today, only NordVPN has a concrete price. Proton has a more generous percentage than many competitors, but a sum still unknown. Choosing between the two on the discount alone would compare a real price with a promise.
Pick NordVPN if you want the known price and the speed, especially for streaming, and you do not want to wait. Pick Proton VPN if you want the free plan to test first, Swiss jurisdiction, published code or the ecosystem (Mail, Pass, Drive). You can also start with one and test the other thanks to the 30-day guarantee: it is the surest way to decide from your own use rather than from a ranking.
Our detailed comparison is in NordVPN vs Proton VPN. On the guarantee, see also NordVPN free trial. NordVPN’s phases and the other brands are in our VPN Black Friday 2026 guide.
Proton Pass vs NordPass on Black Friday
Both password managers are on sale over different periods. NordPass announces, from October 21, 2026 until December 9: Individual 2 years at 53% off with 3 months free (from 1.39 euros a month), Individual 1 year at 33% off (from 1.99 euros), Family 2 years at 58% off with 3 months free (from 2.49 euros), Family 1 year at 38% off (from 3.69 euros). Prices on NordPass’s pricing page are given before VAT.
| NordPass | Proton Pass | |
|---|---|---|
| Black Friday offer | 53% off Individual 2 years, 3 months free | 60% off Pass Plus, 12-month plan |
| Dates | October 21 to December 9 | October 26 to November 30 |
| Announced price | From 1.39 euros a month (before VAT) | Not published |
| Free plan | Yes, but one active session at a time | Yes, unlimited devices according to Proton’s page |
| Code | Closed | Apps published according to Proton |
| Ecosystem | Nord Security (NordVPN, NordLocker) | Proton (Mail, VPN, Drive) |
What we take from it. On paper, NordPass is the cheapest: 1.39 euros a month on 2 years, against a Proton price that is not published. But the terms differ (24 months against 12), and NordPass’s renewal price is not shown on its sales page, as we explain in our NordPass review. The free plan changes the equation: if you use several devices, NordPass’s free plan logs you out on each switch, Proton Pass’s does not. For one person on one computer, NordPass’s free plan is enough; for a family or several devices, look at Proton Pass or at NordPass’s paid price over 2 years. Our wider ranking: best password managers.
Here are our links to see both offers: Proton Pass and NordPass (partner links).
Both managers in the same vault?
Some readers ask whether they can take both offers and use both managers. Technically yes, but it is rarely a good idea: two vaults mean two master passwords, two syncs, and the risk of having logins in different places. Pick one, test it with the 30-day guarantee, and keep the other only if the import fails.
What to check before paying
A successful Black Friday comes down to five two-minute checks, done on the checkout page.
- The total amount billed, not the monthly price shown. A 24-month plan is usually paid in one go.
- The length of the commitment: 24 months for the VPN, 12 months for the other Proton products. Do not mix them up.
- The renewal price, when shown, and the end date of the plan, to put in your calendar.
- The currency and VAT: a page seen from another country shows other amounts. Always check from your own country, on the payment page.
- The 30-day guarantee: it is mentioned on Proton’s pricing pages. Note the refund deadline.
To spot a fake bargain (a percentage computed on an inflated starting price, a code that does not exist), our guide VPN Black Friday 2026 details the method.
What not to do
- Buying a “cheap Proton subscription” on a marketplace or a coupon site. Resold keys, shared accounts, the risk of closure without refund: on a privacy service, that defeats the purpose.
- Paying full price a week before the opening. If you can wait for October 26, wait.
- Taking Unlimited by reflex. It only pays off if you really use several products.
- Committing 24 months without testing. Proton VPN’s free plan and the 30-day guarantee exist for that.
- Trusting a “Proton Black Friday promo code” found on a blog. The partner program email talks about offers via links, not codes.
- Forgetting to check the currency. A screenshot taken from the United States shows dollars, not your price.
Planned updates to this page
Updated October 23, 2026. This page will be revised at least four times: October 26 (offer opens, euro prices read), after November 24 (NordVPN switches to its exclusive week, to keep the comparison current), November 30 (last day of the Proton offer) and early December (end of the NordVPN and NordPass offers). If you read this page after November 30, the Proton offer is over: the amounts shown here are then historical.

Verdict: what to do with Proton’s 2026 Black Friday
- →When? October 26 to November 30, 2026. No point buying before the 26th if you can wait.
- →For a VPN alone? Compare with NordVPN on October 26, with Proton's real prices: NordVPN has a known price today, Proton a stronger discount on paper.
- →For Mail, Drive or Pass? The 60% discount on 12 months is the best time to go paid, but test the free plan first.
- →Unlimited? Only if you would have taken at least three products. Otherwise two products separately are often cheaper.
- →Password manager? NordPass is cheapest on paper, Proton Pass is more generous for free. Your number of devices decides.
- →And if the offer disappoints? The 30-day guarantee lets you back out. Note the date.
