Voirfilms in 2026: current situation
Voirfilms (sometimes spelled “Voir Films”) is one of the oldest names still searched for in French-language illegal streaming: French justice has targeted it since 2017, and since then the name has multiplied across roughly fifteen different extensions (voirfilms.fr, .io, .org, .vip, .ws, .cz, .ink, .fyi, .dev, voirfilm.eu…), following each block. A useful clarification: this guide covers the specific streaming site, not the generic search intent of “watching films” online.
What you need to know:
- Voirfilms is illegal: it streams films (recent and older) and series protected by copyright without rights holder authorisation
- The site has been targeted by French justice since 2017 - one of the sector’s oldest still-active cases - and is regularly blocked by French ISPs under ARCOM orders
- None of the current addresses (voirfilms.cz, voirfilm.eu and about a dozen other extensions on record) can be attributed with certainty to an identifiable publisher
- Using it exposes you to Hadopi/ARCOM fines (up to €300,000)
- Legal alternatives cover most of its catalogue, often for free
This guide covers Voirfilms’s 2026 situation, the real risks, and how to watch the same content for free and legally.
Voirfilms is illegal and blocked since 2017; its 2026 mirrors (voirfilms.cz, voirfilm.eu…) have no identifiable publisher, which makes any security guarantee impossible.
- A VPN doesn't make it legal - watching pirated works still risks Hadopi/ARCOM fines.
- Its catalogue (recent and older films, series) is legally available, often free: Molotov TV, Pluto TV, France.tv, ARTE, La Cinetek for classics.
- If you go anyway, at least run NordVPN Threat Protection (or Surfshark CleanWeb) + uBlock Origin, and never install a "Voirfilms" APK.
What Voirfilms is
Voirfilms is one of the very first big names in French-language illegal streaming: the Paris commercial court ordered a first block as early as September 2017, making it one of the oldest rulings in the sector still relevant today. Since then, studios and distributors have repeatedly turned to the courts and ARCOM to get the domain name blocked, and operators have switched to new addresses each time, usually close variants of the original name.
Typical catalogue
Unlike Papystreaming (old-films niche) or French Stream (mostly recent releases), Voirfilms covers a broader range:
- Recent films in streaming, often obtained through digital piracy
- Older and classic films
- French and foreign TV series
- A visual identity and name recycled across extensions, with no identifiable editorial structure
The usual business model: intrusive ads, pop-ups, redirects to third-party sites, and sometimes requests to create an account or pay for supposedly “free” access.
A name with no identifiable publisher
An important point documented by several specialised guides: across the roughly fifteen extensions that have carried the Voirfilms name since 2017 (.fr, .io, .org, .vip, .ws, .cz, .ink, .fyi, .dev, .eu, among others), none can be attributed with certainty to an identifiable publisher. In other words, no one can guarantee who actually runs the site you’re visiting, or what they do with your data or traffic.
ARCOM blocking
Like other major French-language illegal streaming sites, Voirfilms is a recurring target of ARCOM (the French audiovisual and digital regulator, formed in 2022 from the merger of the CSA and Hadopi). The mechanism is the same as for French Stream, Papystreaming or Coflix:
- Rights holders (studios, distributors) report the site to ARCOM or go to court
- ARCOM or the court orders administrative or judicial blocking at French ISPs
- ISPs (Orange, Free, SFR, Bouygues) block the domain, usually at the DNS level
- The site switches address, generally a close variant of the original name, and the cycle starts again within a few weeks
Voirfilms has been recently blocked by ARCOM according to several specialised guides, in line with the waves of blocking that have hit the sector since 2019. The addresses most cited in early 2026 are voirfilms.cz and voirfilm.eu (note: the latter drops the final “s”, a common trick to confuse searches). Third-party sites such as technplay.com position themselves as pointing to “the new address to reach the right site”: these are not official sources, often monetised through ads or affiliate links, and no more trustworthy than the pirate site itself.
Why Voirfilms is dangerous today
Malware risks
Voirfilms clones and mirrors share the sector’s usual problems:
- Requests to install browser extensions presented as necessary to play video (malware)
- Fake verification windows asking for personal or banking data
- Multiple redirects with fake “play” buttons that open pop-ups or illegal gambling pages
- Requests to create an account or pay for supposedly free access
- These illegal streaming sites regularly contain active malware
The specific risk of third-party apps
“Voirfilms” is frequently searched for alongside terms like “iPhone app” or “APK”, a sign that a third-party app vector circulates around the name. There is no official Voirfilms app on the App Store or Google Play Store: any app or APK file offered on a third-party site outside these official stores should be treated as a risk, with no independently verifiable security guarantee.
Legal risks
Same law that applies to French Stream, Papystreaming and Coflix:
- Fine up to €300,000 (Intellectual Property Code)
- 3 years in prison in serious cases
- €1,500 Hadopi/ARCOM fine in simplified procedure
- €7,500 for using a blocked site
Film and audiovisual rights holders (SACEM, ALPA, APP, SFA) have stepped up prosecutions since 2023, regardless of whether the content is a recent film, a classic, or a series.
The lack of an identifiable publisher makes it worse
A site that has changed domain names since 2017 with no clearly identified structure behind it offers no guarantee at all: not on technical security, not on the actual content streamed, and not on whether access will still be there tomorrow.
Legal alternatives to Voirfilms’s catalogue
The good news: most of what Voirfilms offers (recent films, older films, series) is legally available elsewhere, often for free.
Recent films and series, free
Molotov TV: replays of all French TV channels, free.

Pluto TV: hundreds of themed channels plus an on-demand catalogue, free, ad-supported.
France.tv: France Télévisions series and films, replays and live, free.
TF1+ and M6+: replays of the TF1 and M6 channels, free.
ARTE: free, art cinema, documentaries and quality European series.
Older films and art cinema
La Cinetek (lacinetek.com): films selected by contemporary filmmakers, a very high-quality on-demand catalogue, subscription from around €9/month.

Madelen (INA): a massive catalogue from France’s National Audiovisual Institute, cult French series and shows, around €4.99/month.
The Internet Archive (archive.org/details/feature_films): public-domain films, free, with no ties to piracy.
American films and a wider catalogue
Tubi (USA, via a US VPN like NordVPN): a huge free catalogue of films and series, legal in the US and accessible via VPN.
Recent content on subscription
- Netflix with ads (from €7.99/month)
- Prime Video (included with Amazon Prime)
- Disney+ (Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, classic Disney catalogue)
- Max (formerly HBO Max)
- Canal+ for recent cinema and sport
For a specific film outside any subscription, paid rental (Canal VOD, Rakuten TV, Prime Video, Apple TV, €3-5 per film) remains far cheaper than the legal and technical risk of a site like Voirfilms.
If you go anyway
This isn’t our recommendation. But if you go anyway:
1. A VPN with active Threat Protection
NordVPN and its Threat Protection feature automatically block:
- Known malware domains
- Malicious advertising pop-ups
- Cryptominer scripts
- Phishing redirects
With Surfshark, the CleanWeb function does the same job. It’s an essential layer of protection if you frequent dubious sites, but it fixes neither the legal risk nor the fact that no identifiable publisher stands behind the site.
2. An aggressive ad blocker
uBlock Origin with active filters (EasyList, EasyPrivacy, Fanboy’s Annoyance List) blocks 80-90% of malicious pop-ups.
3. A dedicated browser
Never use the same browser as your banking, Google, or social network accounts. Use a separate browser, in private mode, logged out of everything.
4. Never install an APK or third-party app
Never install a “Voirfilms” app or APK file offered outside the App Store or Google Play Store, and never install a “codec” or “video player” requested by a streaming site. It’s always either malware or an app that can’t be independently verified. Modern browsers play every standard video format with no extension needed.
To go further
Legal free streaming has progressed enormously in 2026. Free platforms (Molotov, Pluto TV, France.tv, ARTE) cover most needs for recent films and series, La Cinetek and the Internet Archive cover the classics, and Netflix with ads at €7.99/month fills the rest, without the risks of a site like Voirfilms.
