Surfshark free trial: the truth in 2026

Like most major VPNs, Surfshark has no unlimited free trial on desktop, but two routes amount to the same: a 7-day free trial on mobile and a 30-day money-back guarantee on all plans. That guarantee is actually more generous than a real “free trial”: you get 100% of the features, not a throttled version.

The essentials

Test Surfshark free two ways: 7-day mobile trial (Play Store/App Store) or 30-day money-back guarantee on all plans (the real full trial month).

  • Take the 24-month plan (cheapest per month), test it, request a refund before day 30 if needed.
  • Unlimited connections: one subscription for all your devices.
  • Truly free forever: Proton VPN Free (no card).

The two ways to test Surfshark for free

Surfshark app (macOS) connected: the simple interface you test during the trial or 30-day guarantee

1. The 7-day free trial (mobile). On Android (Play Store) and iOS (App Store), Surfshark regularly offers a 7-day free trial managed by the store: no immediate payment, cancel in your Google Play / Apple subscriptions. Short, but enough for a preview.

2. The 30-day money-back guarantee (all devices). You pay for a plan, use Surfshark fully for 30 days, and get your money back if it doesn’t suit you. This is the “trial month” most people use, since it covers desktop, TV and mobile at once.

How to activate your trial month

  1. Choose the 24-month plan (lowest per-month rate, so the amount you front then reclaim is minimal).
  2. Create your account and pay (card, PayPal, crypto).
  3. Install the app on all your devices (unlimited connections) and use Surfshark normally.
  4. Note the deadline (day 30) and turn off auto-renewal.

Getting refunded

  1. Before day 30, open the 24/7 support chat.
  2. Request cancellation and refund under the 30-day guarantee.
  3. No justification required; refunded within a few business days to your original payment method.

Frequently asked questions

Does Surfshark offer a free trial in 2026?
Yes, in two ways: a 7-day free trial on mobile (Android via Google Play, iOS via the App Store), and above all a 30-day money-back guarantee on all plans. The guarantee is the equivalent of a full trial month, all features unlocked, refund with no justification.
How do I activate Surfshark's 7-day free trial?
On Android: install the Surfshark app from the Play Store, create an account and start the trial (managed by Google Play, cancellable in your Play subscriptions). On iOS: same via the App Store. The 7-day trial is mobile-only; on desktop, the 30-day guarantee applies.
How do I get a refund from Surfshark?
Simple: (1) subscribe (the 24-month plan is cheapest per month); (2) use Surfshark normally; (3) before day 30, contact the 24/7 support chat and request the refund under the guarantee; (4) refunded within a few business days. No reason required.
Is Surfshark free forever?
No. Surfshark has no permanent free tier. The only truly free, no-time-limit VPN is Proton VPN Free (unlimited data, no card). Surfshark's 30-day guarantee lets you test it free for a month, not beyond.
How much is Surfshark after the trial?
From about €2.19/month on the 24-month commitment, with unlimited connections (one subscription covers all your devices and the whole family). It's one of the cheapest major VPNs.
Which VPN has the best free trial?
For truly free, unlimited-time use, Proton VPN Free. To test a premium VPN risk-free, the 30-day guarantee from Surfshark or NordVPN acts as a full trial. On mobile only, Surfshark's 7-day trial is handy for a quick look.
